Biography

Ali CAVIT, MD, Assoc. Prof is a specialist in Orthopaedics and Traumatology and Hand Surgery. He is particularly specialized in ligament and bone injuries of the wrist and their arthroscopic (minimally invasive) treatment.

He also manages surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder; sports injuries; tendon and nerve injuries; peripheral nerve surgery; microsurgery; replantation and revascularization; complex hand and upper extremity trauma; soft-tissue loss and reconstruction with local and free flaps; fractures and dislocations of the hand and wrist; compression neuropathies; deformities; joint disease; cartilage and ligament injuries; tumours of the hand and upper extremity; infections; and other conditions of the hand.

He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2010 and completed Orthopaedics and Traumatology specialty training at Akdeniz University in 2017. The same year he began Hand Surgery subspecialty training at Uludağ University, completing it in 2020.

Since 2020 he has worked as a Hand Surgery specialist at Istanbul Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital. In 2021 he played a leading role in establishing the Hand Surgery Clinic and since 2022 has served as Clinical Administrative and Education Lead. He received the Associate Professor (Doçent) title in 2022.

His international experience includes an observership at Cleveland Clinic (USA, 2007), a FESSH Travel Award in 2019, and work at Institut de la Main in France with Prof. Christophe Mathoulin, advancing his expertise in wrist arthroscopy.

In 2020 he earned the European Diploma in Hand Surgery.

He has numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and serves as editor and reviewer for national and international journals, with a major focus on advancing wrist arthroscopy and wrist surgery.

His core clinical interests include wrist arthroscopy, wrist ligament injuries and instability, scaphoid and other carpal injuries, arthroscopic treatment of degenerative wrist disease, and complex wrist surgery.

He contributed to accreditation of the clinic as International Wrist Center (IWC Istanbul), now an internationally recognized centre for wrist arthroscopy, complex wrist surgery, education and research.

Founding member (2025) of the Turkish Wrist Arthroscopy and Surgery Society, Ali CAVIT, MD, Assoc. Prof currently serves as the Society’s Secretary General.
